ABC12's School Spirit Finale Celebration 2018: Owosso High School wins!

OWOSSO (WJRT) (05/11/18) - Owosso High School was crowned a four-time winner of the ABC12 School Spirit Challenge for the 2017-2018 season on Friday.

The Trojans earned top honors by collecting around 115,000 pounds of donations for both the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

Students from more than a dozen Mid-Michigan schools that participated in the School Spirit program this year took part in the Finale Celebration in Owosso High School's gym.

In total, this year's School Spirit Challenge brought in donations of more than 500,000 pounds of food. Since the contest started in 2008, schools have collected donations totaling more than 6 million pounds of food.

The following schools in the top 15 all collected more than 10,000 pounds each:

1. Owosso High School -- 115,665 pounds
2. Davison High School -- 55,462 pounds
3. Richfield Public School -- Academy 49,265 pounds
4. Bentley High School -- 42,716 pounds
5. Swartz Creek High School -- 40,732 pounds
6. Flushing High School -- 35,588 pounds
7. Heritage High School (Saginaw Township) -- 30,463 pounds
8. Flint Northwestern -- 29,280 pounds
9. Grand Blanc High School -- 18,495 pounds
10. Carman-Ainsworth High School -- 15,731 pounds
11. Genesee Career Institute -- 15,397 pounds
12. Bendle High School (Burton) -- 14,934 pounds
13. Corunna High School -- 14,124 pounds
14. Linden High School -- 14,111 pounds
15. Madison Academy (Burton) -- 12,594 pounds
