OAKLAND COUNTY (WJRT) - (6/3/17) - The Oakland County Health Division has confirmed 15 cases of Salmonella in the County, according to a press release.
The Division says the investigation suggests that salmonella is "being spread through personal contact."
The release does not cite the exact source of where it started.
The Division is urging residents to wash their hands before eating meals or using the restroom.
Salmonella is a bacterium that causes diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps when it gets into the intestines.
Typically, people recover without treatment but for infants, the elderly and those with immune system issues, those people are at greater risk of becoming severely ill.
Other cases have also been confirmed in other Michigan counties along with Ohio and Illinois.
