FLINT (WJRT) (3/6/2018) - The city of Flint is getting a $1.5 million tax credit to help with public housing improvement efforts within the city.
The tax credit, awarded by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, will assist in the completion of Phase One in the development of the new Atherton East Clark Commons project.
The first phase includes 62 new apartments.
"It actually makes the project economically viable, so the project has several sources of financing that they've been seeking and have received and so this $1.5 million makes the project really sustainable and make the developer able to implement the project," said Susan Wilcox, interim director of the Flint Planning and Development Department.
Residents of the current Atherton East apartment complex would be relocated to the new location on North Saginaw Street as apartments become available.
