FLINT (WJRT) - (1/28/17) - We are kicking off tax season with a phrase many of you will likely be shouting, "Show me the money!"
More than 20 Show Me the Money Day events were held across the state. One of them happened in Flint at Vernon Chapel AME Church Saturday.
Social worker Jackie Robertson thought it would be a great idea to come and get information for her caseworkers.
"Homebuying, foreclosures. They talked about repairs. So some of my clients need home repairs, and I thought that was good information to have," Robertson said.
The free event featured 27 vendors.
Chenelle Dismond, a senior loan officer with Metro Community Development, says she gets satisfaction knowing that those who are helped now will help others later.
"We've had individuals to come back year after year, so appreciative and bringing people with them because they've been able to do something as small as, but it's as large as having their roof repaired, and that made the difference in whether they were able to stay in their home," she said.
They also passed out more than $3,000 in cash and prizes.
