SAGINAW (WJRT) (11/16/2017) - A 70-year-old woman is accused of embezzling nearly $500,000 from the Michigan Cardiovascular Institute in Saginaw.
Marcia J. Conway was arrainged Tuesday in Saginaw County District Court on a charge of embezzling more than $100,000, according to Prosecutor John McColgan Jr. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison, plus fines and restitution.
Authorities say Conway, who held a variety of positions during her career with Michigan Cardiovascular Institute, used company funds to pay for personal purchases she made with her own credit cards. She then withheld revenue on the clinic's ledgers to hide the crimes.
The investigation so far has shown about $467,000 is missing from business. The embezzlement allegedly took place from June 2010 until Conway retired in February 2017.
She was released from police custody on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond after her arraignment. She is scheduled to appear in district court again on Nov. 28 for a preliminary hearing.
