SANILAC COUNTY (WJRT) (10/31/2017) - An 81-year-old man received serious injuries after rear-ending a semi truck stopped on M-46 while waiting to make a left turn late Monday.
A 30-year-old Sandusky man was driving the 1989 International semi truck eastbound on M-46 around 10:30 p.m. when he stopped to turn left onto Ruth Road in Sanilac County's Washington Township. While he was stopped, a car passed on the right.
Moments later, the 81-year-old man from Croswell slammed into the back of the semi with his 2010 Lincoln. He told the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office that he didn't see the stopped semi before the impact.
A Sanilac EMS ambulance transported the 81-year-old to McKenzie Hospital, where his condition was not known Tuesday. The semi driver declined medical treatment at the scene.
Police say both drivers were wearing seat belts.
