GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) 10/09/17- A Mid Michigan faces charges after girlfriend overdoses.

"Oh my God, Oh my God, this is kicking my butt," are some of the last words spoken by 46-year-old Julie Persons before she died of an apparent drug overdose last month, said Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell.

"She apparently had been dead for a long time," he said.

Pickell said Persons' body lay dead inside this mobile home for at least 10 days before finally being discovered on Oct. 1. But she didn't die alone.

"What we learned from our investigation was that her boyfriend was there at the time and he was the one that gave her the drug," said Pickell.

John Curtis Osborne has been charged with failing to report a death, a misdemeanor. Pickell said the two were taking drugs together when both overdosed. Osborne survived, Persons did not.

"She died right in front of boyfriend, he ran away, he left," said Pickell.

More than a week later, Osborne was arrested at a different mobile home in the same trailer park.

Pickell has advice for the those struggling with drug addiction.

"Be aware. We want to get you help and we know that you've got a serious problem and a serious addiction but be careful, Fentanyl's a killer and if there is an overdose, get us to get there as quickly as possible," said Pickell.

If convicted, Osborne could receive up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
