FENTON TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - (10/31/17) - Air conditioning, security cameras and HVAC upgrades are among the many improvements Lake Fenton Community Schools are hoping to make if their $11.7 million bond extension passes next Tuesday.
"It's a 5.0 millage rate. In 2002, our voters passed that for the building of a new high school, and that bond is set to be paid off in 2024," Superintendent Julie Williams said.
The bond extension would add three years to the current bond, without increasing the current rate for taxpayers.
The bond would include one item of contention -- a new athletic turf for Lake Fenton High School.
"The athletic turf field has been a high area of question, but we have reasons for that that we have shared with community members," Williams said.
If the bond passes next Tuesday, the first item to be addressed will be air conditioning, which could go in one of the buildings as soon as next summer.
