FLINT (WJRT) - (08/12/16) - Humidity is not usually a favorable term when talking about Michigan summers, but for some new water-making machines coming to Flint, the thicker the air - the better.
Atmospheric water generators donated by EcoBlue are coming to Flint homes to help with the city's water crisis.
The generator absorbs water in the air and purifies it for safe drinking.
The cost for 250 machines is $350,000, but they were given to the city at no cost by the company.
The generators will be sent to the Prince of Peace Baptist Church in Flint a few at a time.
Those wanting a generator will need to fill out an application on their website.
The church says there is still a need for donations because filter replacements aren't covered with the cost of the machine.
"We're just trying to keep it so Flint residents don't have to pay for maintenance themselves, which is important for us,” said Jeffery Hawkins, pastor at Prince of Peace Baptist Church.
The church says at this time, there are about 40 applications already in.
