SAGINAW (WJRT) - (03/20/17) - A Saginaw woman is relieved that a second arrest has been made in connection to her son's 2005 murder.
It was nearly 12 years ago when Terrance Winters was killed. There was an arrest this weekend in Flint, and police already had one person in custody.
Jeramie Tucker was arrested in Kentucky in May, and ever since then, police have been looking for Charles Miles.
It was early Sunday morning when police closed in on Charles Miles on Tuscola Avenue in Flint. Miles dove out a window, but was eventually tackled by police officers.
Barbara Ezell has been praying for 12 years that the people who killed her son, 21-year-old Terrance Winters, would be brought to justice. When she heard the news of Miles’ arrest, she was praying.
“I was at church when I actually got the notice, and oh wow, it was a shock,” she said. “I never gave up hope and I never stopped pushing, you know, I constantly went down to the police department, I kept in contact with them, it was like a daily job for me.”
Miles is also wanted in Genesee County on criminal warrants. Tucker, who was 16 years old when Winters was killed, was arrested in Kentucky last year and is awaiting trial. The two are accused of robbing and shooting Winters in his home on Oakley Street in Saginaw on April 26, 2005.
“I heard that Tucker and Miles are cousins, and they went in to rob my baby, they stole his car and killed him,” Ezell said.
Winters has a son, who is now 15 years old.
“I don't hate them, I'm going to pray for them, but I want the full justice for them, I want everything they can get, but I don't hate them,” Ezell said.
Miles is being held without bond. Tucker is in jail awaiting his trial, which is scheduled to begin on April 14.
