BAD AXE (WJRT) (5/15/2018) - The former Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe is the newest part of the McLaren Health Care group.
The Grand Blanc-based hospital system announced its acquisition of the 58-bed acute care hospital on Tuesday. It now will be called McLaren Thumb Region.
The deal will expand access to health care services for patients in Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties. More physicians from the McLaren network, expanded services and facility improvements will be made.
“Becoming part of McLaren Health Care is an extremely positive development for our community,” said Michael E. Johnston, president and CEO of McLaren Thumb Region. “We are excited to offer residents of the area the services of McLaren Health Care while maintaining our commitment to the local community that has always been our mission.”
McLaren will retain a local board of trustees in Bad Axe to oversee operations at the hospital. Any funds raised by the hospital foundation will remain in the community.
“Together, we will continue to provide the level of patient care excellence that this region of the state has come to expect,” said Philip A. Incarnati, President and CEO of McLaren Health Care.
