BAY CITY (WJRT) (11/10/2017) - Bay City firefighters rescued a man from a home that was on fire Friday morning.
Fire crews from the Bay City Department of Public Safety responded to a house divided into apartments in the 100 block of Chilson Street around 9 a.m.
The victim was alone in the house and called 911. When firefighters got to the man, he was lying in bed. They picked him and got him out of the house.
"The crew went in and saved him. He was not going to get out on his own," said Bay City Fire Chief Karey Prieur. "He was on the phone with 911 the whole time and we were getting info from 911 that he was in the house."
McLaren EMS transported the man to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation while firefighters finished extinguishing the blaze. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday.
