BURTON (WJRT) (2/16/2018) - A 15-year-old Bentley High School student is charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism after an incident in class on Thursday.

The suspect remained in the Genesee Regional Detention Facility after being charged as a juvenile in the case.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the student made a threat in class Thursday and the principal was notified. The student allegedly repeated the same threat to the principal, who called police.

The school was never placed on lockdown as a result of the incident.

Authorities have not released specifically what the student was threatening. However, no weapons were seen and Leyton said the student even mentioned he has no weapons to carry out the threat.

Leyton said he took the case seriously in light of the recent spate of violence at schools around the country.
