BRIDGEPORT TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - (08/13/18) - A two vehicle crash in Saginaw County leaves one man dead and injures two other people.
The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office reports the crash in Bridgeport Township was called in to Central Dispatch at 11:07 a.m. Monday.
Investigators learned a 65-year-old woman driving a gray Chevrolet Aveo was traveling westbound on Curtis Road. Investigators said she pulled out in front of a red Dodge Dakota truck, driven by a 74-year-old man. The truck was heading south on Dixie Highway.
The 67-year-old front passenger in the Aveo died as a result of the crash.
Rhonda Martin and her husband live near the crash scene and said this isn't the first accident they've seen.
"Just the 11 I've been here I've seen so many accidents at this corner, so many," Martin said.
Martin and her husband heard the crash. "He heard the bang and come to investigate and seen there was another accident."
The driver of the truck and the driver of the car were taken to Saginaw hospitals for treatment.
Everyone involved was from the Birch Run-area.
We checked with the Saginaw County Road Commission about the intersection.
Managing Director Dennis Borchard said this is the second deadly accident at the corner this year. The other was on April 20.
As a result Borchard expects a traffic study to take place.
However he adds the crashes were not road-related, instead they involved drivers who disregarded a stop sign.
Martin hopes something happens before her family has to see another bad crash.
"It's just a bad corner, you know at times just so much traffic and everything," Martin said. "They need to do something here, either a four-way or I think a light would even be better. There's enough traffic through here, especially on the weekend."
