FLINT (WJRT) (9/25/2017) - A labor dispute in Canada is leading to layoffs at three General Motors plants, including a Flint engine facility.
The automaker issued a statement Monday confirming the layoffs at engine plants in Flint and Spring Hill, Tenn., along with a transmission plant in St. Catherine's, Ontario, as a result of the labor dispute.
The layoffs will begin this week at the three affected plants. A GM statement said the layoffs should be short term, but the company is working to minimize the impact.
"We are not sharing details publicly and won't speculate on how long the layoff will last," GM's statement says.
A specific number of layoffs also wasn't provided on Monday.
