LAKE MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (07/16/17) - The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a warning about Lake Michigan.
They said it's simply too dangerous in our state as well as Illinois and Indiana.
They said "life threatening waves" could form, reaching eight feet.
And with winds up to 25 miles per hour, the Coast Guard has concerns about rip currents.
Even people who don't plan to go in the water should use caution.
The Coast Guard said people should also stay away from rocks, jetties and piers as high waves can sweep a person off and into the water.
And while the weather conditions are expected to subside Sunday night into Monday morning, the Coast Guard cautions it can take an extra day for lake conditions to calm.
