DETROIT (WJRT) (7/10/2018) - A woman accused of hitting and killing a Bay City road construction worker will stand trial.

Samiya Speed, 22, faces felony charges of drunk driving and careless driving in a work zone causing death.

Police say she was on I-75 near Warren around 1:45 a.m. June 14 when she hit 57-year-old David Snell of Bay City as he was helping another worker hook up a trailer to a pickup truck.

The crash caused Speed's car to roll over. She was arrested by Michigan State Police troopers at the scene.

In court Tuesday, Speed waived her preliminary hearing, which will allow the case to move forward. She is scheduled to appear in court again later this month.
