ORTONVILLE (WJRT) (11/14/2017) - Two people were shot near downtown Ortonville on Tuesday evening, leading to a massive manhunt for the shooter all over the village.
The shooting took place around 8 p.m. in the area of 98 Village Court in an apartment complex, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. A man and woman both were shot in what police are calling a domestic incident before the suspect left the scene.
Both victims, a 33-year-old woman and an unknown age male, were transported to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc in critical condition.
"They appeared very serious when they left the scene in ambulances," said Oakland County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Miller.
Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Michael Quigley of Clarkston. Miller said investigators were not sure whether Quigley was on foot in the area or had been picked up in a vehicle.
Anyone who knows where Quigley is or notices anything suspicious was asked to call 911 immediately.
"He's obviously considered very armed and very dangerous," Miller said.
A massive manhunt was under way, with several residents reporting helicopters flying overhead. Searchers were deployed around Brandon High School south of the village for a while and farther east along Granger Road.
"We're getting obviously some different calls giving us different information," Miller said. "Nothing has panned out so far. We have a lot of resources out here."
Police were warning residents in the area to remain inside and lock their doors while a search for the alleged gunman continued.
"Right now we're telling everyone to just stay in their homes. Don't come out. Don't be out trying to see what we're doing," Miller said.
Police K-9 tracking teams were deployed around the village as part of the search.
