RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - UPDATE: (01/25/17) - There are new details about a fire that destroyed a Genesee County catering company.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire at Bon Appetit catering in Richfield Township is undetermined.

The building caught fire on the morning of Jan. 11.

No one was hurt.

The investigation remains open.

(01/11/17) - A catering business that's been around for decades in the Davison area was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.

Fire officials with the Davison-Richfield fire department spent all of Wednesday morning and much of the afternoon at the scene of Bon Appetit catering.

Neighbors at the scene tell us the fire started around 6:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

The Davison-Richfield Fire Department used extra manpower and water from two other departments as fire ripped through the entire building.

Bon Appetit is located on Coldwater Road, and the business has been around since 1979 - although it's not clear how long they've been at this particular location.

Thankfully, no one was injured.

"The building was unoccupied at the time. We don't see anything suspicious about it now, and of course, we'll start our investigation when we get all these hotspots out,” said Skip Davis, Asst. Chief, Davison-Richfield Fire Department.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire, but as the assistant chief said, it doesn't appear to be suspicious. Fire investigators expect to know more within a day or two.

I did reach out to the owners, but they declined to comment at this time.
