FLINT (WJRT) - (01/30/17) - Flint City Hall is closed due to extensive water damage caused by water pipes that burst overnight.
Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said she noticed water had pooled inside the garage Monday morning; that was her first clue that something just wasn't right.
City Hall officials said carpets were soaked, wires exposed and ceiling tiles were filled with water, forcing officials to close the building.
"The Fire Marshal has said that this is a hazard right now and that's why we are closed to the public because we have electrical concerns and we don't want electrical fires going," Weaver said.
Restoration services have been working all day Monday to assess the damage.
Officials hope to have the building open for Tuesday, but are still unsure. Stay with ABC12 News for further updates.
