DETROIT (WJRT) (2/6/2018) - A great year financially for General Motors is leading to a windfall for about 50,000 employees.
The automaker raked in revenue totaling $145 billion in 2017, which beat analysts' expectations. The company posted a pretax profit of $12.8 billion.
GM sold 8.9 million vehicles worldwide, including 3 million in the United States and 4 million in China. Sales increased nearly 1 percent worldwide.
Thanks to the strong results, production workers mostly represented by the UAW will be receiving profit sharing checks of about $11,700 later this month.
