Gov. Snyder hands out 30 awards honoring exceptional community service work

SAGINAW (WJRT) - (08/30/16) - Governor Rick Snyder spent the evening in Saginaw to host the 2016 Governor's Service Awards at the Temple Theatre.

Thirty of the state's top volunteers, service leaders, and philanthropists were honored for giving back and making a difference doing it.

Several people and businesses representing mid-Michigan were on the list in various categories.

Saginaw resident Doris Jacques received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Residents from Holly and Mt. Pleasant were singled out too along with the Shaheen family of Saginaw.

The Dow Chemical Company of Midland and Memorial Healthcare Volunteer Services of Owosso were also recognized for leaving their mark on the community.
