SANILAC COUNTY (WJRT) (12/12/2017) - Two men on a 2016 John Deere Gator UTV were injured after the machine failed to negotiate a turn Sunday evening.

Two men ages 65 and 67 from Melvin were riding the machine eastbound on Galbraith Line Road around 6:30 p.m. when the 65-year-old driver attempted to turn left onto Jordan Road. However, the UTV slid on snow and ice on the roadway and landed in the ditch.

The 67-year-old passenger, who police say was not wearing a seat belt, flew through the windshield when the vehicle hit the ditch. The driver was wearing a seat belt and remained in the UTV during the crash.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to area hospitals, where their conditions were not available on Tuesday.

The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash.
