BRIDGEPORT TOWNSHIP (WJRT) - ()8/09/18) - A new development along Dixie Highway off of I-75 in Bridgeport Township is expected to bring around 80 jobs to the community.
The Love's Family of Stores confirms the Love's Travel Stop and Country Store should be operational by spring of 2019.
It'll offer all the food and drinks you'd expect at a travel stop, as well as extras like electronics accessories, showers, laundry facilities and more.
Inside the more than 12,000-square-foot travel stop building there will also be a Hardee's restaurant. A separate building of just over 10,000 square feet will house a tire center.
"I've been wondering every single time I come to work, I'm like, 'what is going in here?' I mean I haven't seen any signs or anything, but I've just been trying to figure out what's going to be built and when it's going to be finished," said Amanda Brantley, an employee at Viper Apparel. The dress shop is directly across Dixie Highway from the Love's Travel Stop and Country Store.
Crews officially started construction in late July. Before construction could begin a building had to be torn down and the land cleared.
The building used to be home to Freeway Fritz. Most recently it was Night Flight Fireworks which has since moved to the other side of the highway to allow for this development.
Employees at Viper Apparel believe this will greatly boost traffic giving them even more exposure in an already good location.
"We have girls who come here just for the chicken for Frankenmuth, and they're like, 'well we heard about this store, let me come get a prom dress'. So I think this will bring even more people," Brantley said.
Love's started the planning process with Bridgeport Township officials back in November of 2016.
