FOREST TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (6/5/2018) - The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning a community open house this month to consider options for making a busy intersection safer.

The agency is planning to make the intersection of M-57 and Irish Road in Forest Township a four-way stop later this year. The goal is to reduce side impact crashes, which are common there.

But efforts to make the intersection safer may not stop there. MDOT is planning to discuss other options, including the installation of a roundabout and other safety measures.

The public meeting is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. June 14 at the Forest Township Hall at 130 E. Main St. in Otisville.

A specific timeline for installing the four-way stop and considering roundabout was not available.
