BAY COUNTY (WJRT) (6/22/2018) - A troubled stretch of I-75 north of Bay City and eight overpasses will be rebuilt next summer.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to improve 5.3 miles of the freeway from the M-13 connector to Beaver Road. Eight overpasses, including Wilder, Mackinaw and Chip roads, will receive work.

The project is the next step of MDOT's goal to repair all of I-75 through the Great Lakes Bay Region. The 5.3-mile stretch receiving work next year has poor pavement.

When complete, only two more stretches of the freeway will need work in the region.

MDOT is planning an open house Wednesday evening to discuss plans for the 2019 and detours that will be necessary to accommodate work on the overpasses.

The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the MDOT Bay City Transportation Service Center at 2590 E. Wilder Road.
