MSP troopers to get new patrol cars in honor of 100th anniversary

MICHIGAN (WJRT) - (01/10/17) - In honor of the one hundredth anniversary of the Michigan State Police, the troopers are getting some new rides.

Starting Wednesday, 50 special edition black and gold 2016 Dodge Charges will join the fleet.

Each of the MSP's 30 posts will receive at least one one hundredth Anniversary patrol car for use on general patrol and at community events.

This is what MSP vehicles looked like in 1937. That's a Ford Model 74 patrol car that had a siren that ran off of the fan belt and a radio that was 'receive only.'
This is what the new patrol cars will look like.
