ALMA (WJRT) (12/4/2017) - The man accused of in a hit-and-run crash that left a Gratiot County nun dead was sent to prison Monday for up to 15 years.
Justin Fell was sentenced to 18 months to 15 years in prison after pleading no contest to a charge of failing to stop at an accident. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but is treated as such for sentencing.
Fell alleged hit Sister Joseph Marie Ruessman as she rode her bicycle on Michigan Avenue in Alma last August.
When he was arrested 11 days after the crash, Fell told authorities he had hit a deer. However, police say damage to his car tied him to the nun's death.
