HURON COUNTY (WJRT) - (08/22/16) - A Monroe County man is singled out for quick thinking actions that first responders say was the difference between life and death for a Caseville woman.

Jesse Ross of Carleton received a "Life Saving Recognition" certificate from the Huron County Sheriff's Office and Caseville Firefighters.

He, along with Chad Griffin of Pinckney, helped a woman out of her submerged van after she drove into the Pigeon River on August 6th.

She was trapped upside down in 7 feet of water with just a small pocket of air to breathe from, when Ross and Griffin helped free her by jumping in and breaking out the back windows.

The woman walked away with only minor injuries, but was ticketed for operating under the influence.
