Marvel the missing show dog

FLINT (WJRT) - (06/16/17) - Early Wednesday morning, John Nevin was transporting Marvel from the Soo to the Lansing area for a specific mission.

"For her to be bred with my dog because we wanted to have puppies," Nevin said.

Along the ride, the Rhodesian Ridgeback may have had a change of heart. Nevin says when he stopped at the Michigan Welcome Center along 127 in Clare, Marvel ran off.

"I opened the door of my car and she just bolted," he said. "She just disappeared. I think she got scared. There had just been a thunderstorm and she ran off. "

He called police and they began searching for the dog. She was spotted running away from the welcome center and there have been two more sightings since then - one at the VFW Hall and the other at a local church.

Nevin is asking the community to be on the look out for Marvel.

"Take a picture so we know exactly where she is. Don't approach her, she's scared, she will run away. Don't call her name. Just make note of where she is," Nevin said.

Nevin is planning to distribute flyers and posters throughout Clare in hopes of finding the show dog.

If you would like to help in the search for Marvel and pass out flyers, volunteers are meeting Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Days Inn in Clare. If you spot Marvel, please call 517-449-8986.
