MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) (10/31/2017) - Retail giant Meijer announced a recall of bulk dark chocolate covered nuts and coffee beans due to a labeling error.

GKI Foods, which manufactures dark chocolate covered almonds, cashews and coffee beans for Meijer, did not declare on its labels that the products contain milk. Meijer is voluntarily recalling all of the affected products.

The affected products were sold under the Meijer brand in bulk clamshell containers at most of its 230 stores. GKI began recalling the products on Oct. 27 and Meijer joined the recall on Tuesday.

UPC codes on the products are: 19283-40301-8, Meijer Bulk Dark Chocolate Almonds 18 oz.; 19283-40302-5, Meijer Bulk Dark Chocolate Cashews 18 oz.; 19283-40313-1, Meijer Bulk Dark Chocolate Coffee Beans.

People with a milk or dairy allergy who consume the products could become severely ill or die from eating the foods. However, no illnesses have been reported as a result of the labeling issue.

Anyone with the affected products can return them to any Meijer store for a full refund. People with questions about the recall can call 1-800-543-3704.
