HIGHLAND TWP. (WJRT) - (09/20/17) - An early August Facebook post gone viral all started with a Michigan father who had a dream and some serious skills.
Adam Boyd of ATB Building built an elaborate 2-story playhouse for his daughters in their Highland Township backyard and he's been blown away by all the attention it's getting.
"I didn't expect very much to happen. I was just doing this for my daughters and it just exploded," Boyd explained.
Much of the material was recycled from scraps at his building company and incredibly, he was able to make his vision a reality during his spare time.
Boyd's daughters, 5 year old Avery and 1 year old Violet, now have a storybook playhouse featuring fancy upgrades like crown molding, cherry wood and even a bonus loft.
The playhouse has electricity and a small heater too, so it's ready for year-round play no matter what kind of Pure Michigan weather mother nature dishes up.
Getting in and out is even exciting! The girls can keep it simple by using the front door or make it an adventure by climbing up the attached rock wall to get in or by going down the slide for quick exit.
Boyd says he's gotten so much positive feedback he's now launching a new business venture called Spoiled Rotten Homes, so he can design more over the top playhouses for other kids.
His first family-inspired model is estimated to be valued at roughly $60,000.
