Michigan father builds over the top playhouse, launches company to design more

HIGHLAND TWP. (WJRT) - (09/20/17) - An early August Facebook post gone viral all started with a Michigan father who had a dream and some serious skills.

Adam Boyd of ATB Building in Highland Township built an elaborate 2-story playhouse for his daughters and he's been blown away by all the attention it's getting.

"I didn't expect very much to happen - I was just doing this for my daughters and it just exploded," Boyd said.

Much of the material was recycled from scraps at his building company and it's a project he made a reality, in his spare time.

Boyd's daughters, 5 year old Avery and 1 year old Violent, have crown molding, cherry wood and even a loft room.

The playhouse has electricity and a small heater, so it's ready for year-round play through the Michigan winter too.

There's a even rock wall to climb up and a slide for a quick exit.

Boyd said he's gotten so much positive feedback, he's now starting a new business, Spoiled Rotten Homes, so he can design more over the top playhouses for kids.

The estimated price tag for his first family-inspired model?

Between $50-60,000.
