FENTON (WJRT) (12/1/2017) - A Fenton man became Mid-Michigan's newest millionaire on Friday, when he claimed a $1 million Powerball jackpot.

Edmond Nicaj, 41, matched the five white balls in Wednesday's drawing – 24-26-28-59-63 – to win the prize. He bought his winning ticket at Great Lakes Family Restaurant, located at 963 S. Grand Ave. in Fowlerville.

“I buy a Powerball ticket every once in a while and it really paid off this time,” Nicaj said.

He checked his ticket the morning after the drawing and couldn't contain his excitement.

“My kids heard me and came running upstairs to check on me and then they started jumping around," Nicaj said. "My 6-year-old asked me how many zeros would be on my check.”

Nicaj visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize Friday. He plans to pay off some bills and set aside some money for his six children.

“Winning feels good because it helps. It takes away so much stress and pressure,” Nicaj said.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com.

A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
