FLINT (WJRT) (2/27/2018) - The C.S. Mott Foundation is committing most of $23 million to redevelop more of the Buick City site with a mix of environmentally-friendly industry and public access to the Flint River.
The initial phase of the project could attract businesses that create about 300 new jobs, according to State of Michigan documents released to ABC12.
The industrial park would be designed to attract warehousing, packaging and light industrial businesses.
In addition to businesses, the redevelopment would include recreational trails and public green space.
The Michigan Strategic Fund approved funding $6.5 million of the project on Tuesday. The C.S. Mott Foundation is expected to contribute $16.5 million.
State officials say the next step in the process is what's called the due diligence phase, where the property will be assessed from an engineering standpoint and a master plan will be developed.
