FLINT TOWNSHIP - (WJRT) - (9/13/17) - For those looking to get a job in the skilled trades sector, a new training center has opened up in Flint Township.

Automation Movers International has opened their first skilled trade training facility.

"We're hoping that we can build a large pool of individuals with the skills that we need so we can place them in jobs," said Training Manager Clint Joyner.

AMI is looking to offer workers with specific skill sets in Mid Michigan a chance at finding a job.

"If an individual has a specific trade that they'd like to focus on, they have that option to go through that specific training. We also offer it as a full 80 hour course where you can touch on all the areas," he said.

A person could be done in as little as two weeks with the course, putting them closer to getting a job.

"We have over 100 customers here in the area of Southeastern Michigan and Genesee County," said AMI President Steven Tondu.

The opening of the facility near Flint's Bishop International Airport has been one in the making for close to a year and a half.

"Not only can we train them, we can provide opportunities for them as well," Tondu said.

AMI already has their first round of students set to start mid October.

The programs are open to anyone.
