FLINT (WJRT) - (12/30/16) - Update: The man who was hit by a truck has been identified.

48 year old, Michael Miller, is dead after getting hit while crossing Dort Highway in the busy business district of Flint's east side.

It happened shortly after 7 o'clock Friday night. Police closed down the stretch of Dort Highway extending from Mohawk Avenue to Eldon Baker Drive for more than two hours.

When our crew arrived on scene the man's body was still lying in the road covered by a white sheet, close to the Dodge Ram pick-up truck that hit the victim.

Flint Police say the man was not at an intersection when he attempted to get across the road. The driver of the pick-up truck was not hurt. Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in respect to the driver. The pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

ABC12 did talk with a woman who works at the tattoo parlor directly across the street from where the accident took place. She told us she believes she knows the victim who she thought was homeless, but was known in the area.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Flint Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.
