FLINT (WJRT) (12/21/2017) - A train stopped west of Howard Avenue in Flint may have struck a pedestrian farther west.
The train was traveling eastbound when the incident occurred somewhere near the former Amtrak station in the area of 13th and Saginaw streets.
Bystanders said police officers were asking them whether they noticed anyone walking across the railroad tracks in the area. At least one witness reported seeing an elderly man with a cane on the tracks when the train was approaching.
The Flint Police Department, Flint Fire Department and Michigan State Police were on the scene, but they could not confirm what happened that caused the train to stop suddenly.
A Canadian National Railroad Police Department officer was leading the investigation. Representatives from the railroad could not immediately be reached for comment.
