HURON COUNTY (WJRT) (10/30/2017) - Police are investigating what caused the death of a 2-month-old Huron County boy late Sunday morning.
First responders were dispatched just before 11 a.m. to a residence on Second Street in Port Hope along the shore of Lake Huron. CPR was already in progress when Eastern Huron Ambulance, Harbor Beach police and the Huron County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene.
An ambulance quickly whisked the boy to Harbor Beach Hospital, where medical staff continued advanced life-saving measures. However, the boy was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office said a preliminary investigation shows the boy was sleeping in a bed close by his mother when she found him unresponsive. However, the sheriff's office and Child Protective Services were still investigating the situation Monday.
An autopsy was planned for Monday afternoon to help determine a cause of death.
