FLINT (WJRT) (7/12/2018) - Authorities are investigating reports of two bodies found in the Flint River near the I-475 overpass.
A fisherman called 911 after finding the bodies in the water underneath a door.
The Flint police and fire departments, Genesee County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police were along the Flint River Trail near the freeway investigating.
One of the bodies had been removed from the river by 6:15 p.m. and identify as a male. Authorities were working to retrieve the other, which was face down so they could not immediately be identified.
Flint Fire Chief Ray Barton said a fisherman was along the river preparing to cast his lines when he went over to move the door so he wouldn't get tangled in it.
When the fisherman moved the door, he found a body underneath. Firefighters responded and got that body out of the water, then discovered the second body underneath.
Flint Police Det. Sgt. Tyrone Booth said investigators haven't determined whether the deaths are suspicious, but they don't believe anyone else is in danger as a result of the incident.
