MIDLAND (WJRT) - (09/13/17) - Nearly 10 years ago the Midland community said goodbye to a police officer.
Officer Chad Schieber, 35, died while running the Chicago Marathon.
Before his death he created a program aimed at encouraging teen drivers to drive safely.
"It's been a wonderful tribute to him and a way that I can keep his memory alive for our children," said Sarah Schieber, Chad's widow.
Four years ago, Schieber created Project 111.
It's already in three Midland County schools and offers incentives to teens who drive safe.
A concert fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. will help Project 111 do more.
