HURON COUNTY (WJRT) - (04/19/17) - Bullet holes at a gun club is nothing unusual, but where someone shot at the Harbor Beach Gun Club is a whole different story.
It started when a member came to check on the club.
"Found the empty hulls in the driveway and then seen the broken window, and the more we walked around, the more damage we found," said Ken Hessling, vice president of the Harbor Beach Gun Club.
Those empty hulls were in places members would never shoot from.
Around every corner, it got worse.
"There was damage on the side of our fence, the damage to our sign, the eyes and ears protection sign, at very close range that ricocheted off and hit the door," Hessling said. "To our Harbor Beach logo sign, around the, behind the building they shot into the fence directly. They shot our lights, three lights for our skeet field and then from this distance they shot our window."
Hessling says the damage adds up to more than $6,000.
Just like they do to keep this place is top shape, members have pitched in to find whoever did the damage.
"A thousand dollar reward leading to the arrest of the person or persons that have done this," Hessling said.
Hessling says investigators found footprints and tire tracks, and are hoping to get fingerprints from the hulls left behind.
Members just don't understand why anyone would do this.
"It's upsetting. It feels like somebody did something to your mom's house. It's, it, you just feel violated," Hessling said.
They're pretty sure this damage happened sometime between the evening of March 28 into March 29, that's a Tuesday into a Wednesday.
If you know who did it, call the Huron County Sheriff's Office.
