MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) (11/10/2017) - The Salvation Army kicked off its annual Red Kettle campaign on Friday.
The nationwide charitable organization still is in need of volunteers to assist with bell ringing and toy distribution.
The majority of donations from the kettle campaign go right to programs that provide assistance to people in Mid-Michigan year round.
"Right now it's a lot colder than it was last year, which says to me there are people out there that need coats, that need warmth in their house, that just need a helping hand this season and all year through," said Salvation Army Capt. Caleb Senn. "So we want to raise $800,000 just to make sure every need can be met in Genesee County."
The Red Kettle campaign will run through Dec. 24. Look for bell ringers at popular locations all over Mid-Michigan through the holiday season.
