FLINT, Michigan (WJRT) - (02/16/2018) - "It's sickening, you know it breaks my heart to see that, really breaks my heart," said Cheryl Ferguson.
The grandmother, sickened by the sight of bullet holes shot into the door and hallway of her son's apartment Friday night. Police say 17 rounds were fired.
Michigan State Police said it's a miracle no one was killed with that many shots fired into such a small area on the landing outside the third floor apartment of the Country Club Manor Apartments.
Detectives we spoke with on scene called it a shootout
Based on the trajectory of the bullets, they said someone inside the apartment was shooting at someone outside the apartment who was shooting back.
Unbelievably, the only injury was a 27-year old woman who was exiting the third floor who was hit in the leg by a bullet.
She was listed in good condition Friday night at a local hospital.
Investigators tell us it was unclear as to exactly who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
They also do not know who was shooting from the hallway.
The grandmother, whose son rents the third floor apartment, said she was heartbroken after seeing the bullet holes for herself.
"This is sad, it's insane, it's sickening," she said. "It breaks my heart to see that, it really breaks my heart, to know my son or anyone of them could have been killed."
Police said they're having a hard time nailing down who was where at the time of the shooting due to varying accounts of how the incident unfolded.
There have been no arrests in this case that is still under investigation.
