SAGINAW (WJRT) - (03/20/17) - A new bar in downtown Saginaw is close to opening for business.
Monday, the sign for Bourbon + Co went up on the historic Bancroft building.
While the sign isn't an exact replica of the Bancroft Building built in the mid 1800's, the owner says it does pay homage to the building's history.
You'll see the sign along E. Genesee Avenue near S. Washington Avenue.
Bourbon + Co is owned by Ryan Seifferlein, who also owns the Bancroft Wine and Martini Bar and the Bancroft Coffee and Tea.
The bar will serve up food, as well as bourbon, hand crafted cocktails and Michigan craft beer.
It's a new option for a growing part of downtown.
"I think it's more nightlife, things to do, you know, right now after 8 o'clock, the other businesses really shut down where it's just us, the wine and martini bar, so I think you can park your car, find a spot and walk between places. You've got Bradley's Bistro, great food, the Savoy with great food, the Savoy Bar is over there, and then you have us, so we're all within walking distance, you get he walkability downtown," Seifferlein said.
Seifferlein is aiming for an opening date of April 1, but is still waiting on final approvals from the state and Michigan Liquor Control Commission before announcing an official date.
