HARRISON (WJRT) (9/13/2017) - A traffic stop in Harrison on Sunday evening led police to a suspected marijuana trafficking operation in the city.

Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff's Department pulled over a white Chevrolet Cavalier around 9:05 p.m. near the intersection of Grant Avenue and Ireta Street in Harrison, according to a press release issued Tuesday.

Prior to the traffic stop, police had observed the Cavalier driving north on Grant Avenue with an improper license plate.

While talking with the driver, who was not identified, police learned of a drug dealing operation at a nearby house, the press release says. That led police to obtaining a search warrant for a residence in the 600 block of North Lake Street.

Police found "a large amount of marijuana and narcotics in the pill form" at the residence when they served the warrant this week, according to the press release. A 36-year-old Harrison man was arrested at the house and taken to the Clare County Jail.

The Clare County Prosecutor's Office was still deciding what charges to file on Wednesday.
