FLINT (WJRT) - (03/13/18) - Flint Mayor Karen Weaver has just announced a trial program to help restore water service to people who had their service shut off.

City Council approved the plan Monday night.

After their first shutoff, customers will have to pay their current bill plus 10-percent of the outstanding balance and reconnection fees to get their service back on.

After a second shutoff 25-percent of the outstanding bill will have to be paid.

The mayor says the trial program will run for 60 days.
