MILLINGTON TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (2/8/2018) - A Millington school bus had a close call Wednesday with a vehicle that lost its brakes.
The bus was stopped with its red flashers activated on M-15 near Barnes Road in Millington Township around 3:15 p.m. Two vehicles were stopped behind the bus while students got off.
A third southbound vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Montrose man approached the stopped vehicles when his brakes failed. He rear-ended the vehicle in the back and pushed it into the other vehicle.
The school bus was not hit. None of the drivers involved reported any injuries.
A Tuscola County sheriff deputy checked out the Montrose man's vehicle and confirmed there was no brake pressure. The man told police he had worked on his brakes a couple weeks earlier.
The sheriff's office issued a ticket to the Montrose man for an equipment violation.
