Veterans Day 2017: See what businesses are offering free meals, services

(11/08/2017) - Veterans Day is coming up on Saturday, when America pauses to recognize the men and women who have served in our armed forces.

Here is a list of businesses offering free meals and services for veterans and current active duty military personnel on Friday and Saturday:

Applebees -- Seven entrees available free (not including beverages, sales tax or tip) on Saturday. They include butcher's meat and potatoes, chicken tenders platter, oriental chicken salad, three cheese chicken cavatappi, the American standard burger, fiesta lime chicken and shrimp.

Bar Louie -- Free appetizer or entree on Friday.

Bavarian Inn of Frankenmuth -- family style chicken dinner or the three-piece chicken plate luncheon on Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

BJ's Family Restaurant of Owosso -- free meal up to $10 on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Bob Evans -- Six breakfast, lunch and dinner items available for free on Saturday. They include a stack of pancakes, brioche French toast, country biscuit breakfast, mini sampler breakfast, farm boy sandwich and country fried steak dinner.

Chilis -- free meals are being offered, but they vary by location. Call ahead for the special Veterans Day menu.

Cracker Barrel -- Free slice of double chocolate fudge Coca-Cola cake.

Denny's -- free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. to noon Saturday. It includes a choice of two pancakes, two eggs cooked to order, two sizzling bacon strips or hash browns.

DQ Grill & Chill -- free medium Blizzard ice cream on Saturday available at locations in Burton and Grand Blanc.

Famous Dave's -- free two meat salute on Saturday, which includes a choice of chopped pork, roasted chicken, barbecued chicken, catfish fingers, traditional wings, boneless wings, rib tips, chicken tenders and beef brisket. The meal also comes with a choice of one side and cornbread. Dine in only.

Flint Firebirds hockey team -- complimentary silver level tickets to Saturday afternoon's game. Faceoff is at 3 p.m. against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Garber Chevrolet Linwood -- free conventional oil change, which includes up to 6 quarts Dexos1 full synthetic oil and AC Delco filter, on Saturday only. (Excludes synthetic oil blends and diesel engines). Call (989) 697-4444 to schedule an appointment. Service hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Golden Corral -- free all-you-can-eat buffet dinner on Nov. 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. No takeout available.

Great Clips -- veterans and military personnel can get a free haircut or a card to get a free haircut at a later date on Nov. 11. Anyone else can get a free haircut card to give a veteran or military member. The free haircut cards are redeemable through Dec. 31.

IHOP -- free order of red, white and blue pancakes on Friday.

Little Caesars -- free Hot-N-Ready lunch combo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The meal includes four slices of deep dish pepperoni pizza and a 20-ounce Pepsi product.

Red Lobster -- free appetizer or dessert on Saturday.

Red Robin -- free Tavern double cheeseburger and all-you-can-eat steak fries. Beverages not included.

Texas Roadhouse -- free lunch on Saturday. The special Veterans Day menu includes a 6-ounce sirloin, single grilled pork chop, pulled pork dinner, country fried sirloin dinner and country fried chicken dinner -- all with two sides; cheeseburger, BBQ chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich -- all with steak fries; grilled chicken salad and chicken Critter salad. Includes a beverage.

Nearly all the offers are for veterans or military members only, not family members, and are for dine-in only. To redeem an offer, have a military ID or veterans paperwork available.
