SAGINAW (WJRT) - (07/02/17) - Crews in Saginaw are putting the final touches on their big fireworks show planned for Tuesday evening, July 4.
ABC12 got a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make it all come together on Sunday evening.
The show is put on by the Saginaw Area Fireworks from Ojibway Island, but view-able from all around!
A critical part of fireworks prep is getting the tubes ready to launch mortar shells. It all takes a lot of experience, planning and timing.
"...the great thing about July 4th is celebrating our freedom and independence but it's watching the kids and the people on the shores," said Tom Roy the President of Saginaw Area Fireworks. "Watching that first burst of the stars, it's really awesome to see the 'ooo's' and 'ahh's'...the kids just light up, that's what's really special."
The show is totally funded by private sources, so donations are always appreciated and needed to keep the show coming back each year.
