RICH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) - (04/15/18) - Lapeer County Sheriff's deputies say slick road conditions played a part in a deadly rollover crash.

Deputies were called to North Lapeer (M-24), north of Castle Road in Fostoria before 2 p.m. Saturday.

Nickolas Drwal, 20, was driving a Volkswagon Jetta when he lost control and traveled across the southbound lane.

"Incumbent weather was present and the roadways were considered slushy/icy due to sleet," according to a news release from the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Drwal hit a driveway culvert which caused the car to rollover. It struck a tree before rolling on its roof in a ditch.

Drwal was rushed to McLaren in Lapeer with serious injuries but died about four hours later.

The crash is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Sgt. Jason Parks at 810-656-1015 or jparks@lapeercounty.org.
